From Congo to Cape Town one name continues to echo louder with each beat: Kabeyah. Born David Kabeyah on June 28, 2001, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, this 24-year-old artist has become a beacon of creativity, resilience, and cultural pride. Since relocating to South Africa in 2012, Kabeyah has not only found a home — he’s built a movement.

Launching his music career in 2020, Kabeyah quickly distinguished himself with a genre-defying sound that blends Afrobeats, Congolese Rumba, and Amapiano. His music is more than entertainment; it’s a celebration of African rhythm and global connection. “I’m versatile in sound,” Kabeyah says. “I create music that speaks to where I come from and where I’m going.”

His breakout hit “Sentiment” became a viral sensation, amassing over 20 million views on TikTok and drawing thousands of listeners across Spotify and YouTube. Tracks like “You Want More” and his debut single “VIBE” — recorded with support from African Hip Hop Indaba — showcase his ability to fuse heartfelt storytelling with infectious beats.

But Kabeyah’s journey is rooted in more than just music. Raised in a children’s home, he found solace and purpose in rhythm and lyrics. That personal history fuels his mission to inspire connection, hope, and unity through art. “Music gave me a voice when I didn’t have one,” he reflects. “Now I want to use that voice to lift others.”

In 2022, Kabeyah co-founded the FeelDeMuzik Festival with longtime friend and collaborator Young Jessy, who is currently studying at Dartmouth College in the United States. What began as a shared dream between two high school friends has grown into one of Cape Town’s most anticipated independent music events. The inaugural edition launched on July 28, 2023, followed by a second on December 7, 2024. The third edition lit up the city on July 5, 2025 — and now, the festival is expanding into a two-night experience on November 1st and 6th.

With over 2,000 attendees and a growing reputation for spotlighting emerging talent, FeelDeMuzik is more than a festival — it’s a cultural movement. “We wanted to create a space where young artists could be seen and heard,” Kabeyah explains. “FeelDeMuzik is about giving the next generation a platform to shine.”

Kabeyah’s commitment to youth empowerment doesn’t stop at music. He is also the co-founder of Red Angels Model Management, an initiative aimed at nurturing young creatives across South Africa. Through mentorship, exposure, and opportunity, Kabeyah is helping shape a future where art and ambition go hand in hand.

As he prepares for the upcoming FeelDeMuzik double-header, Kabeyah remains grounded in his roots and driven by his vision. “I’m just getting started,” he says with a smile. “There’s so much more to create, so many stories to tell.”

From the streets of Kinshasa to the stages of Cape Town, Kabeyah’s journey is a testament to the power of music, friendship, and fearless self-expression. And as his rhythm continues to ripple across borders, one thing is clear — Kabeyah isn’t just making music. He’s making history.
