Pietermaritzburg-born producer and DJ Orategile Neo Moatlhudi, better known by his stage name 2in1musiq, is carving out a unique space in South Africa’s vibrant music scene. Born on September 20, 2005, Orategile’s journey is a testament to passion, persistence, and a deep-rooted love for sound.

From Sunday Morning Jazz to Studio Beats.

Growing up in a household where music was woven into daily life, Orategile absorbed influences from his grandparents’ gospel records to his father’s jazz collection. Those soulful Sunday mornings before church planted seeds that would later flourish into a career.

By grade 7, curiosity led him to FL Studio, where he began experimenting with drum patterns and melodies. YouTube tutorials became his classroom, and genres like amapiano, hip-hop, and R&B his playground. Initially drawn to aggressive broken beats, his father’s jazz influence shifted his style toward more soulful, layered productions.

Building a Label, Building a Legacy.

Now a university student, Orategile is not only producing and DJing but also running his own record label, 2in1musiq Records. His vision is clear: to nurture diverse talent across genres and ensure no artist is overlooked, as he once felt when signed to a label in his early teens.

He emphasizes diversity, believing that every genre has a place and every artist deserves a platform. His label is already pushing emerging voices, reflecting his commitment to inclusivity and innovation.

Exclusive Interview with GTribe Magazine.

GTribe Magazine sat down with Orategile Neo Moatlhudi to talk about his journey, inspirations, and future plans

Q1: You grew up surrounded by music. How did those early experiences shape your sound today?

Orategile: “Music was always in the house. My father’s jazz records gave me a love for soulful sounds, while my own curiosity led me to amapiano and hip-hop. That mix of tradition and experimentation is what defines my style now.”

Q2: What inspired you to start your own record label at such a young age?

Orategile: “I wanted to create a space where diversity is celebrated. When I was younger, I felt ignored by the industry. Now, I want to make sure no talented artist feels that way. 2in1musiq Records is about giving everyone a chance.”

Q3: You’ve moved from producing into DJing. How has that transition been?

Orategile: “It’s exciting. Producing is about building the sound, but DJing is about sharing it live with people. Seeing the crowd react to something I created is a whole new level of connection.”

Q4: Where do you see yourself and your label in the next five years?

Orategile: “I want 2in1musiq Records to be a hub for creativity across Africa. Personally, I see myself collaborating internationally, bringing Afro-house and amapiano to bigger stages while still staying true to my roots.”

Orategile Neo Moatlhudi’s story is one of resilience and vision. From a curious teenager tinkering with FL Studio to a young entrepreneur running his own label, he embodies the new wave of African artists redefining global soundscapes. With his soulful touch and commitment to diversity, 2in1musiq is a name to watch.
